Used to be given the greens water as well as a kid, oh my word the horror this thead has brought back! I do like vinegar and a bit of pepper on my greens in a roast dinner. Wouldn't put it on the roasties or Yorkshire pud though.

Just because mint sauce contains vinegar, it doesn't justify spoiling a roast dinner with vinegar. What the fuck is the world coming to? Vinegar belongs with chip shop chips and pickling things in jars. Got it?

Asking for ketchup or brown sauce in a restaurant is a bit naff though.

Consider yourself lucky.
My mum used to make gravy by combining cornflour and Bisto with a bit of tap water to make a paste, then adding the paste to a pot of plain boiling water and stirring till thickened.
It never saw so much as a hint of meat juices or veg stock.

It used to make my blood boil when my mum used to make the gravy out of the boiled cabbage water.
Looking back though it seems a rational thing to do (?) but I despised cabbage with a passion.

Depends what the roast is. Lamb (mint sauce has vinegar in it). Beef (horse radish and mustard, have vinegar in them). Just depends what you like. I imagine you could object, if someone put vinegar on your dinner: otherwise, it has fuck all to do with you. :-)

Thats a bit pikey isn't it? Are you one of these people that go to a restaurant and then ask for ketchup. I pretty much broke up with a bird over an 'asking for ketchup in a decent restaurant' incident. Slag.
